Workforce Development
The goal of the Eau Claire Chamber’s Workforce Development Committee is to study workforce issues affecting businesses, implement programs to address the issues, and partner businesses and education.
Some of the programs and activities the committee is involved with include:
The Chippewa Valley Wage Survey – The Eau Claire Chamber partners with the Menomonie and Chippewa Falls Chambers, Chippewa Valley Society for Human Resource Management (CVSHRM), and Wipfli to bring you the wage survey. The survey includes over 150 job descriptions, touching on five specialty sections including: Construction, Financial, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Not for Profit. The 2008 survey will also include a section on employee benefits. The results
are available in early October. If you are interested in purchasing the wage survey, please call the Eau Claire Chamber at (715) 834-1204 or contact Katy Kiley.
If your business is a member of the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce or the Greater Menomonie Chamber of Commerce and you would like to participate, you can view Wage Survey Instructions and the Job Description Definitions. Excel

You can email your Excel spreadsheets to Katy Kiley or mail the hard copies to her. The Chamber would like to thank Deb Marshall and Linda Sharif of Wipfli for their help with the wage survey.
Promote the Chippewa Valley – The Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce partners with the Eau Claire Economic Development Corporation and the Chippewa Valley Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to promote the Eau Claire area as a great place to work, live and visit.
The Age of Opportunity Job Fair - This program was created to highlight mature workers in the Chippewa Valley. We found that many seniors are interested in maintaining a link to the working world through part time employment or volunteer service.
"Manager's Corner" is resource for the business community for workforce related issues.
To form a strong partnership between the business and education communities we are involved in:
Educator Tours – Educators take time to tour our area businesses to see what career skills businesses are seeking in their employees and type of education required for employment. The goal is for educators to integrate these ideas into their curriculums and classrooms.
School Visits – Area business leaders are invited to come on a ‘tour’ of an Eau Claire school to show first hand how schools are preparing the future workforce (professional and life skills) and help understand the issues/challenges facing educators.
Internship/Apprenticeship Breakfast – In order to help businesses see the ease and benefit of using an intern or apprentice in their company, we host an Internship/apprenticeship breakfast, some time in February. The program will include success stories from students and employers, as well as an exercise to help businesses begin brainstorming potential intern or apprentice projects in their company.
If you would like more information on any of these programs and activities or have questions about the how the Eau Claire Chamber is involved with workforce development issues, please contact Brett Geboy.
